Booth size converter.
US shows sell booths in feet and most of the world sells stands in metres. Convert the plot first, so the drawing, the graphics and the quote all describe the same floor.
Size in metres
3.05 × 6.1 m
- Area
- 18.6 m²
- Area in square feet
- 200 sq ft
- Nearest whole metres
- 3 × 6 m
Always draw to the organiser's exact dimensions. Rounding a 10 ft edge to 3 m loses 48 mm on every side that counts.
In short
One foot is exactly 0.3048 metres, so a 10 × 10 ft booth measures 3.05 × 3.05 m, or 9.3 m². A 10 × 20 ft booth is 3.05 × 6.10 m, or 18.6 m², and a 20 × 20 ft island is 6.10 × 6.10 m, or 37.2 m². European plots are usually sold in whole metres, so a 3 × 3 m stand is slightly smaller than a 10 × 10 ft booth.
How the sum works
Each side is multiplied by 0.3048, the exact international definition of a foot. Area is the two converted sides multiplied together.
The nearest whole metres are only a convenience for comparing plots. A graphic printed for a 3.05 m wall will not fit a 3.00 m wall, so use the real figure on drawings.
How to use it
- Read the plot from the floor plan. Use the organiser's dimensions, not a size remembered from last year.
- Convert both sides. Enter the width and depth in feet to see metres and area.
- Draw to the exact figure. Use the converted dimensions for walls, graphics and flooring, then check them against the manual.

Questions
01How big is a 10×10 booth in metres?
3.05 × 3.05 m, which is 9.3 m². A European 3 × 3 m stand is 9 m², so artwork made for one will not fit the other exactly.
02How big is a 10×20 booth in metres?
3.05 × 6.10 m, or 18.6 m². It is usually an inline booth with one open side, or a corner if it sits at the end of a row.
03Which comes first, width or depth?
Conventions differ. A 10×20 in the US usually means 10 ft deep and 20 ft of frontage. Check the floor plan so that you do not design the stand sideways.
04Do US and European stands follow the same height rules?
No. US shows often apply the IAEE display guidelines, with back walls commonly limited to 8 ft on linear booths. European limits are set show by show. See [US trade show booth rules](/guides/us-trade-show-booth-rules).
