Exhibition stand power calculator.

Order the supply from a real list of what you plan to plug in. Electrical orders are one of the few stand costs that rise sharply after the deadline.

Supply to plan for

1.26 kW

Connected load
1,050 W
Single phase at 230 V
5.5 A
Three phase at 400 V
1.8 A per phase

Replace the sample wattages with figures from the data sheets. The official electrician decides the supply. US shows run at different voltages, so ignore the amp figures there.

In short

Add up the watts of everything on the stand: lights, LED strip, screens, fridges, coffee machines and chargers. Add a margin, then divide by 1,000 for kilowatts. For example, 12 spots at 20 W, 15 m of strip at 14 W per metre and two 300 W screens come to 1,050 W, or about 1.26 kW with a 20% margin. Ask your electrician to confirm the supply.

How the sum works

Load = (spotlights × watts) + (strip metres × watts per metre) + (screens × watts) + other. The margin is then added on top.

Single-phase current = watts ÷ 230. Balanced three-phase current = watts ÷ (√3 × 400). Those voltages suit most of Europe and the Gulf; check the voltage where you are showing.

Motors and heating elements can draw more when they start, so check fridges and coffee machines on their data sheets. Our guide to exhibition stand electrics explains how orders work.

How to use it

  1. List the equipment. Go through the stand zone by zone, including hidden items such as fridges and routers.
  2. Use real wattages. Replace the sample figures with data-sheet values.
  3. Order before the deadline. Send the total and a plan of socket positions to the official electrical contractor.

Questions

How much power does an exhibition stand need?

Small lit stands can run on a few kilowatts. LED walls, kitchens and machinery can take it far higher, so add up your own list rather than using a typical figure.

Does the stand's power come with the space?

Usually not. Most shows sell electrics as a separate order, and supply is often metered by the connection you request.

Is 24-hour power available?

Often as a separate order. Fridges and always-on equipment usually need it, because normal supply may be cut overnight.

Can my builder do the electrics?

Many venues require a named contractor for the connection, and qualified electricians for the stand wiring. Check the manual.
