Panels come in fixed sizes, so a real wall lands on whole panels. Ask the supplier for the exact pixel map before making content.
In short
An LED wall's resolution is its size divided by its pixel pitch: a 4 × 2.25 m wall at 2.5 mm pitch is 1,600 × 900 pixels. A common rule of thumb is about one metre of viewing distance per millimetre of pitch as a minimum, and about three times that for comfortable viewing, so 2.5 mm suits an audience standing from about 2.5 to 7.5 metres away.
How the sum works
Pixels across = width in millimetres ÷ pixel pitch. Pixels down = height in millimetres ÷ pixel pitch.
Panels = whole panels across × whole panels down. Partial panels are rounded up because a wall cannot use a fraction of one.
The distances are rules of thumb: pitch in millimetres as metres for the closest acceptable view, and three times that for a comfortable one. Judge real panels with your own content on site. Our LED wall guide covers brightness, power and structure.
How to use it
- Measure the wall. Use the structural opening available on the stand, allowing for the frame.
- Choose a pitch. Pick from what your supplier stocks, then check the viewing distance against the aisle.
- Brief the content. Give the video team the exact pixel size. Content made for 1920 × 1080 will be scaled or cropped on a wall of another shape.

01What pixel pitch do I need for an exhibition stand?
It depends on how close people stand. Walls on an aisle edge usually need a finer pitch than a wall high above the stand. Use this tool to compare the viewing distance with your layout.
02Is a smaller pixel pitch always better?
Sharper, but dearer and heavier on content. If nobody stands within a few metres, a finer pitch buys nothing they can see.
03Can I make LED wall content in 4K?
Only if the wall is 4K. Most stand walls have fewer pixels and an unusual shape, so make content at the wall's exact pixel size.
04How do I place an LED wall in a stand design?
